Dear students, welcome to Silk Road School!
Today we embrace the “Belt and Road” as the historic continuation of the ancient “Silk Road”. Established in 2018, Silk Road School (SRS) is a key measure by Renmin University of China (RUC) to actively support the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in an education context. Based on RUC's educational platform, rich experiences in internationalized education, and high-level think-tank resources, the Master of Contemporary Chinese Studies Program at SRS is devoted to explore a talents training path that integrates global perspective, Chinese characteristic, and RUC’s character.
SRS was the first one among all the “Double First-Class Universities” named after “Silk Road”, and it is also the first degree program that incorporates contemporary Chinese politics, economy, law, and culture study. Adhering to the motto of “Seek Truth from Facts” of RUC, we insist to “welcome all talents from China and abroad, cultivate elites for the BRI”, and have attracted many outstanding students from China and other countries and regions along the BRI. As a professional, international and innovative platform, SRS expects “Silk Road” elites to be better prepared for global challenges under new circumstance.
Here, Chinese culture is dialogued with world cultures. After more than three years’ development, we have enrolled 170 students from 59 countries and regions. Students from multicultural backgrounds gathered at SRS to know China’s development experience, Chinese 5000 years’ splendid history and understand mutual aim of the BRI. As the saying goes, “All things in the world can grow only if they keep the roots, and all things can be successful only if they follow the rules”. I firmly believe that after graduation, all of you with high hopes and great ambitions will become Marco Polo of the new era, bringing China’s development experience and our profound friendship to the world.
SRS will remain true to our original aspiration and never stop improving ourselves. We will continuously pursue high educated standards, enhance our core competitiveness and improve ourselves. We endeavor to shoulder the due responsibility of building a “community of shared future for mankind” with the support from other countries around the world.
Friendship, which derives from close contact between the people, holds the key to sound state-to-state relations. In the unprecedented situation with great changes over the last century, let us take advantage of the BRI to move forward with joint hands and to write a new chapter together!
